NX NX License Error - 'Invalid host'

A node-locked license may not work with NX 2212 (and later versions), but does work with earlier versions of NX.

The following error is displayed:

NX Initialization Error

Invalid host. The hostid of this system does not match the hostid specified in the license file.

Solution

The reason for the error is that NX licensing is based on FlexNet Publisher v11.19, and this version on FlexNet only recognizes Ethernet host IDs from built-in networks adapters. It does not recognize docking station MAC addresses or USB network interface cards (NIC).

If your license file is tied to the MAC Address network device that is not built in, contact Siemens Support to request a new license that is keyed to the MAC/Physical Ethernet address.

A valid MAC Address can be obtained by running (double-click) the ‘getcid.exe’ utility (located in the ‘UGFLEXLM’ folder within the NX installation, in NX 2212 or later).

If the MAC Address returned is different from the one in the license file, create a support case and request 'License server change form' or 'CoD', and we'll initiate the process of obtaining new license file with the new HostID.

If running the 'getcid.exe' returns the message:

There is no Siemens Software Licensing Composite HostID for this host ""

This indicates that there are no valid/supported network adapters to which a node-locked license can be keyed.

In this case, contact Siemens Support to request a USB hardware key (also known as a 'dongle') and a node-locked license that is keyed to the dongle.

Please refer to the Siemens Digital Industries Software License Server Installer Release Notes for further information.
